RICHARD (DICK) PRICE, CO-OWNER received his Barber License from the Utah Barber College in 1966. Dick worked for several Barber Shops in the Vegas area between 1966 & 1972 while in the United States Navy Reserve. After spending 7 years (2 years active) in the USNR, including a 1 year tour in Vietnam on river patrol duty, Dick returned to college at UNLV where he received a BS in Hotel Management in 1972. Dick used his degree to work for several hotels in Las Vegas including the Stardust, Riata & MGM Grand between 1972 & 1974.
In 1974, he put his cosmetology license in action and began opening the first of 6 hair salons and a product supply company. Although, Dick built, designed and effectively managed his salon businesses from 1974 to 1993, it wasn't enough to keep him busy. He also received his Real Estate License in 1989, and co-owned and managed Mad Matty's Bar & Casino from 1989 to 1994. (He maintained part ownership in Mad-Matty's until 2007.) Continuing to use his Gaming License he managed several other Casinos’ in Vegas between 1995 & 2000 while preparing to retire.
After many demanding years proving to be a successful entrepreneur, Dick tried his hand at "retirement" from 2000 to 2007. Retirement didn’t sit well with Dick, he needed to keep active and after working in someone else’s barber chair locally, he knew he had to set up his own barber pole again. Don’t let Dicks barber chair fool you, he has won numerous awards for hair cutting and styling and trained with Redken, Sabastian, Paul Mitchell & Joico in haircutting, styling, permanent waves & color.
So, Barber Cut or Color & Style, Dick can help you out with your hair care needs. (And give you the local fishing report!!)
Diana (Di) Price, Co-Owner
Diana received her cosmetology license in 1971 from the Everett Beauty School. After working in Washington state for 7 years, she relocated to Las Vegas, where she began working for Dick Price who would later become her husband and business partner.
In 2000 Dick & Di attempted to retire to their home at Sandy Point. They spent most of their time fishing and entertaining family and friends as they jokingly referred to their home as, the "NON-PROFIT B&B". After a combination of boredom and the itch to start another business, they decided to open just one more salon!
In 2006 they purchased the 100 year old house on James Street and enthusiastically brought their artistic ideas to life by totally refurbishing the inside (& out) of their charming building. They are very proud of not only the aesthetic results of their work, but the warm and friendly atmosphere they and their staff have created at JAMES STREET HAIR & TANNING.
Di's infectious, fun personality brings an atmosphere of a continuous party to James Street Hair! Stop by and see her today!
